Esquimalt Character Home on its way to Quadra Island Waiting for high tide. The building is loaded onto wheels and prepared for the move onto a barge.
Nice and gentle. The barge is maneuvered between docks and sailboats by 6 men pulling on tow lines from both sides. Once in position, the ramps are laid down from bow to shore.
Backing up. The building is backed down the grade toward the ramps.
All aboard. We have successfully maneuvered the house onto the barge and are just doing the final positioning for ballast.
Packing up. The ramps are picked up and hoisted onto the barge, all the lines are cut looses.
The big push. The barge, with the house blocked up on it, are pushed out through the maze of boats by hand, until the tug can position himself at the bow.
Bon Voyage. The tug is positioned with tow lines fastened and ready to set sail for Quadra Island, just off shore form Campbell River.
