Welcome and thank you for your interest in this rapidly growing and exciting building alternative. With building costs rising, building materials decreasing in strength and integrity, and building practices designed to cut costs and corners, Recycled Homes are becoming the clear alternative. Recycled Homes provide quality and affordability for the cost conscience and savvy home buyer. This pamphlet is designed to assist you in determining how to proceed towards purchasing a recycled home. Nickel Bros. has divided these areas into 4 steps. Step 1RESEARCH: THE PLACE TO STARTWhen considering any new idea, research plays an important role. Educating yourself helps provide realistic expectations. The Nickel Bros. website provides a wealth of information on our services. The FAQ’s on “Buying a Recycled Home” answer the typical questions we have heard from clients over the 50 years we have been in business. It will provide you with an overview of basic information and may help generate other questions that will help you in your research. This website also provides you with the NB inventory of recycled buildings we are currently offering for purchase. You are always welcome to contact our offices and we encourage you to ask questions. We’ve been at this business for a while, but it is all new to you. You will also want to begin to talk with the NB salesperson in your area and fill out an “Interested Buyer” information sheet. With your research complete, you will be able to make an informed decision regarding the viability of purchasing one of our recycled buildings. Step 2LOCATING AND PURCHASING PROPERTYYou have decided to purchase a Recycled Home and the next step is to locate property. Once you have located potential property, there are several areas you’ll need to explore.
By measuring for these obstacles, you will help narrow down your property choices. If the route will allow a building move and the property has an acceptable site for the building, you will be able to make a decision regarding the property.
NOTE: Step 3FINANCINGWith the decision made to purchase a Recycled Home and suitable property located, the next step will be to make sure your financing is in place. While discussing financing with your lender regarding your property, it may be a good time to begin also considering financing for the purchase of the building. Speak to your financial institution about your project and having the funds available to proceed with the purchasing of a recycled building. This will allow you to proceed quickly once you find the building. Nickel Bros. may be able to assist in locating a financial institution that will work with you to fulfill your house dreams. We have found that at times, banks have difficulty with the idea of a building being recycled, so if we can help, please let us know. Step 4FINDING YOUR HOMEThere are several things you can do to actively search for a building. Watching the website is important and we update it regularly, adding buildings as they become available and noting when a building has been sold.It is also important to stay in touch with your NB sales person since they will be able to help match what you are looking for to a building. Once you have found the building, the next step will be to submit an “Offer To Purchase”. These forms are available through the office as well as on our website. Depending on where you live, where your property is located, and where the building is located, you may be dealing with several different NB representatives but we are all available to assist you wherever we can. Don’t become discouraged if it takes some time to find the building that will work for you. Stay in touch with us. We have many, many people looking for buildings so request that you touch base with your NB Sales person frequently. The more of these steps that you have in place and completed, the quicker the process will happen once you have the building. Remember that much of this is within your control as the potential building owner. Even with everything in place, it usually takes 2 – 3 months for your building to arrive on its new site. It can be an exciting and fun time. Enjoy and know you’re not alone. We’ve been around for 50 years and want this experience to work as smoothly and easily as possible. RECYCLED BUILDINGS
