Lane House Relocation
The "Leslie Lane House" Circa: 1903, was located at 1380 Hornby, Van. behind Umberto's Restaurant. The house was trapped behind buildings on three sides and a very narrow lane on the other. Although the house was fairly small its location required the use of two 200 ton cranes to lift it over the obstructing buildings onto a Nickel Bros. moving rig. A special "low profile" trailer was used to move "Lane House" under trolley wires on route to the new site.
The "Lane House" was moved to the back lane behind the "Watson House" at 1100 block Pendrell, a house which was moved by Nickel Bros. in the 1970's.
