The Shiploader weighs approx. 350 Ton, and will be transported on 74 wheels from its current site, down the runway, and to a barge in Pat Bay. Once the Shiploader has been positioned on the barge, it will be lashed to the barge for sea transport to Port McNeil. At Port McNeil a large barge crane called the Arctic Tuk will hoist the Shiploader onto a support apparatus errected ocean side to mount the Shiploader onto. One of the challenges of moving the Shiploader is the height of which it must be moved at. We are moving it 12' in the air as a result of structural extensions hanging below the main girders This puts our center of gravity close to 18' in the air, making it critical that we keep it level during the moving process. |
