Moving the 1907 Home from King George Terrace in Oak Bay

The move begins! At 11am sharp, the 120 ton historical Redpath house is pulled out on to King George Terrace.

The hydraulically controlled bogies under the rear of the home are steered to maneuver around the first set of obstacles.

With inches to spare, the building is steered around adjacent obstacles, a transformer on the right and a tree on the left.

The ramps are placed in an unusual fashion to allow the building to be jack knifed on to the barge.

The crowd seems impressed as the barge is positioned in McNeil Bay. Anchor lines are being fastened and the crowd is pushed back a safe distance away.
